Closet Reveal

Ivy Getty

“I have leopard blindness—both leopard and Union Jack blindness,” Ivy Getty says, and that tells you much of what you need to know. Her closet reflects the whimsical, unconventional elegance she claims as her style creed, moving from pieces inherited from her grandmother, the late style icon Anne Getty, to bohemian accessories and eccentric treasures collected with a true connoisseur’s eye. Getty returns, in spirit, to the 1920s—“the first time women dressed for themselves,” as she puts it—and that sense of liberation runs through her choices, whether in drop-waisted silhouettes, theatrical embellishment, or objects she describes as carrying “a sense of possibility.” A childhood obsession with Boy George and vintage shopping gave way to a wardrobe where, in her words, leopard works with everything, silver heels are essential, and the best scarves should always feel a little undone.
