From the Closet of: Joanna Czech

Label: Bottega Veneta

Era: 2000s

About the Item:

Bottega Veneta’s BV 48/S sunglasses in translucent honey-yellow acetate, with oversized rounded frames and warm brown gradient lenses. Made in Italy, the pair comes from Joanna’s rather extensive collection of eyewear—and is one she loved enough to buy despite never getting around to wearing. “I loved these. I’m lucky—I look good in glasses, so I’m always buying new pairs. I never got around to wearing these, but I even kept the old brown leather Bottega case.”

About the Label:

Founded in Vicenza in 1966, Bottega Veneta established its reputation through exceptional Italian leatherwork and a philosophy of discreet luxury. The house’s signature intrecciato weave emerged in the 1970s, while its famously logo-free approach was later encapsulated by the slogan, “When your own initials are enough.” Under Tomas Maier, creative director from 2001 to 2018, Bottega became synonymous with a particularly refined strain of understated luxury. Today, the house is led by Louise Trotter, who succeeded Matthieu Blazy in 2025.
