A playful interpretation of traditional French veiling, this delicate net bow combines two contrasting styles of mesh: fine black French veiling and wider red merry widow netting. The layers are artfully gathered to create a sculptural, bow-like silhouette, with hand-applied Swarovski pearls adding a touch of sparkle. Designed by milliner Gigi Burris as an experiment in veiling techniques, the piece offers a wonderfully modern take on an old-fashioned millinery tradition. “It's really interesting the way that the gathering has happened with the veiling to form almost like a bow,” says Burris, who imagines it as the perfect finishing touch for a holiday party. The accessory can be styled with a ponytail or half-up hairstyle for an effortlessly festive effect.

About the Label:

Founded in New York in 2012, Gigi Burris is an American millinery label known for combining traditional hatmaking techniques with a contemporary sensibility. A graduate of Parsons School of Design and a 2014 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist, Burris draws on centuries-old craftsmanship to create sculptural hats, feathered headpieces, and veiled accessories. Her designs have been worn by Rihanna, Lady Gaga, and Sarah Jessica Parker. A champion of American craftsmanship, Burris also founded Closely Crafted, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving and supporting traditional fashion trades.
