About the Item:

A little mod, a little flower power, this 1970s Lanz Original dress is a fabulous example of the decade's playful approach to print. The sleeveless silhouette features a high, rounded neckline, a fitted bodice, and a softly gathered A-line skirt, all rendered in a bold geometric floral pattern of chocolate brown, black, and ivory. A matching sash ties at the waist, adding definition to the otherwise easy silhouette. With its graphic print and wonderfully retro color palette, it's the sort of dress that looks just as good with knee-high boots as it does with simple ballet flats.

About the Label:

Founded in Salzburg, Austria, in 1922 by Josef Lanz and Fritz Mahler, Lanz originally specialized in traditional Austrian folk costumes and skiwear. Its charming dirndls, colorful prints, and Tyrolean-inspired designs quickly attracted an international following, particularly among visitors to the Salzburg Festival. By the late 1930s, the company had expanded to New York and Los Angeles, eventually establishing Lanz Originals as an American dressmaking label. Under the direction of the Scharff family, the American business evolved beyond its folkloric roots, embracing contemporary silhouettes and playful prints while retaining its signature Old World charm. Lanz Originals continued producing dresses into the early 2000s.
