“I bought this when the Valentino boutique first opened in Aspen to wear to a holiday party.” Part of Valentino's Autumn/Winter 2014 collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli (a version of the dress walked the runway) the silk-blend jacquard mini is alive with a kaleidoscope of butterflies. "Aspen had never really been super dressy," she says. "It was when the town was becoming a little more fashionable, and people were much more conscious about fashion." For Sue, however, the appeal was simple: "It was really the pattern."

Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli served as Valentino's creative directors from 2008 to 2016, ushering in one of the house's most celebrated modern eras before Chiuri departed for Dior.
