Mr. Beene was a lower-priced dress line created by American designer Geoffrey Beene and introduced in 1988. Beene founded his namesake New York label in 1963 and became one of the most celebrated American designers of his generation, known for inventive construction, unusual fabric combinations, and an emphasis on ease and movement. The Mr. Beene name was first used commercially in July 1988 specifically for women’s dresses.
