1960s/70s Céline Wool Trousers
From the Closet of: Jenny Walton
Label: Céline
Era: 1960s/1970s
Size: S/M
About the Item:
“What really drew these to me is this color,” Jenny says of these striking persimmon-colored Céline trousers, which she believes date to the late 1960s or early 1970s. Crafted in vivid wool with a sharply tailored silhouette and chic built-in belt detail, the pants transform classic seventies tailoring into something far more playful and unexpected. “I think we think pants have to be very boring and just black or jeans or whatever,” she says. “But this is such a fun, chic way to have a bit of color.” Jenny discovered them on Vinted while living in Milan and immediately imagined styling them with sleek black Prada knits for contrast. “You don’t even have to think about accessories,” she says of the elegant built-in belt. “They already feel like a complete look.”
About the Label:
Founded in Paris in 1945 by Céline Vipiana, Céline became synonymous with refined French sportswear and understated luxury. By the late 1960s and ’70s, the house was especially celebrated for its elegant tailoring, luxurious ready-to-wear, and polished equestrian-inspired aesthetic. Unlike the louder glamour of the era, Céline perfected a quieter kind of sophistication rooted in impeccable fabrics and effortless silhouettes. Today, vintage Céline remains beloved for its timeless balance of practicality and Parisian chic.
