Label: Gucci by Tom Ford

Era: 2000s

Size: Small

About the Item:

A vintage Gucci belt in pink-and-brown lizard-embossed leather, finished with an oversized gold-tone geometric G buckle. Its vivid color and exotic-skin effect recall the unapologetic glamour of Tom Ford’s Gucci at the turn of the millennium—particularly the famous Spring 2000 collection, where purple printed snakeskin appeared across several runway looks, alongside saturated color and slinky ’70s-inflected silhouettes. “It’s over 20 years old. I bought it in Florence, and I would wear it with pants—usually white pants,” Joanna says.

About the Label:

Gucci was founded in Florence in 1921 by Guccio Gucci, initially specializing in fine leather goods and luggage inspired by the equestrian world. Over the decades, the house developed a vocabulary of instantly recognizable signatures, from horsebit hardware and bamboo handles to the interlocking GG. Tom Ford’s tenure as creative director from 1994 to 2004 ushered in one of Gucci’s most influential eras, transforming the Florentine leather-goods house into a defining force in late-20th-century fashion.
