Label: Manolo Blahnik
Era: Fall 2010s

About the Item:
A navy-and-white striped version of Manolo Blahnik’s celebrated Maysale mule, featuring a sharply pointed toe, slender heel, and the style’s signature oversized buckle, here covered in coordinating navy fabric. The Maysale silhouette dates to 1991, when Blahnik created the now-iconic buckled mule for Isaac Mizrahi’s Spring collection. It has remained part of the designer’s vocabulary ever since, reappearing in countless colors, materials, and variations.
For Joanna, the appeal of this particular pair was the palette. “Navy and white are my favorite colors,” she says. The preference goes back to childhood, when her mother frequently dressed her in blue. “I used to resist it, but then I realized that whenever I wore blue, people would tell me how blue my eyes were,” she remembers. “So this combination was a no-brainer for me.”
