2016 Lanvin Sequin Dress
Label: Lanvin
Era: Resort 2016
Size: Extra Small/ Small
About the Item:
"I got this dress at Barney's. They had such a great Lanvin corner,” says Amy. From Lanvin’s Resort 2016 collection, the dress is cut in a sleek, sleeveless silhouette and fully covered in bands of sequins that shift between navy, silver, and red.
“I remember exactly where I wore it—to the reopening of the Cartier maison on 52nd Street in 2016,” she says. “It felt right for the occasion. It’s a French brand, and with the tricolor—red, white, and blue—and that sort of flashy, jewel-like effect, it made perfect sense.”
"And the last time I wore it wasn’t even that long ago. It was to a wedding in Cleveland, about three years ago. I thought, I’ll give it one more shot,” she laughs. “It’s a bit short for me now—I don’t really do short anymore. I asked my daughter, Flora, ‘Is this too young for me?’ and she said, ‘No, go for it.’ Encouraged by her, I wore it one last time—but now it’s time for someone else to have it!”
About the Label:
Founded in Paris in 1889 by Jeanne Lanvin, Lanvin is the oldest French couture house still in operation—and one of the few established by a woman. Known for its refined craftsmanship and intuitive, woman-centered approach to dressing, the house has evolved across generations while maintaining a distinctly Parisian elegance. In the 2000s and 2010s, under Alber Elbaz, Lanvin took on a new relevance, blending ease with embellishment and a sense of modern glamour that defined the era.
