These Dries Van Noten sandals are rendered in vivid fuchsia crushed velvet, with curved, petal-like panels across the toe and a substantial velvet-covered block heel. Beige suede straps cut through the pink, giving the exuberant silhouette an unexpected neutral counterpoint.

Joanna bought them at Forty Five Ten in Dallas, a store she loved, and remembers the color as something of an experiment. “It was one of those moments of having a little happier color,” she says. “In Dallas, I was trying to be a little happier because I was the most sad-looking in my navies and blacks and grays.” The best part? For all their visual drama, Joanna says, “They’re a super comfortable shoe with that heel.”

About the Label:

Dries Van Noten founded his namesake label in Antwerp in 1986 and emerged as one of the celebrated Antwerp Six, the group of Belgian designers who helped put the city on fashion’s map. Over nearly four decades, Van Noten developed an unmistakable vocabulary of unexpected color, sumptuous textiles, print, and embellishment. After the designer stepped down in 2024, Julian Klausner, a longtime member of the Dries Van Noten design team, was named creative director, presenting his first women’s collection for the house in March 2025.
