About the Item:

Joanna bought these chocolate-brown Saint Laurent Chelsea boots at the brand’s Dallas boutique when she moved to the city. With their pointed toe, elasticated sides, and low Cuban heel, they offered her a subtler take on Western dressing. “I thought that was the least cowboy boot-y boot,” she says. “Not completely cowboy boot—an elegant version of a cowboy boot.” The dark brown leather also appealed to her as a wardrobe neutral: “I like chocolate brown as my classic color of a shoe.” 

About the Label:

Founded in 1961 by Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé, Saint Laurent transformed modern fashion with pieces that borrowed freely from menswear, most famously Le Smoking tuxedo. The house’s long history of sharp tailoring and rock-and-roll dressing found a new expression under Hedi Slimane, who took the creative helm in 2012, renamed the ready-to-wear line Saint Laurent Paris, and made sleek Chelsea and Western-inspired boots signatures of his collections. Today, the house is led by creative director Anthony Vaccarello, who has been at the helm since 2016.
