1960s Beaded and Sequined Top

Era: 1960s
Size: Small / Medium
About the Item:
This sequined shell came to Roya from Magdalena Sprudin Mackintosh, whom she describes simply as "European Tribeca." Mackintosh, a longtime New Yorker who spent years between Manhattan and Paris, passed along several pieces from her wardrobe to Roya, knowing they would find an appreciative home. Though Roya admits, "I just don't wear black much. I'm kind of always wearing bright colors," she held onto this piece for years. Looking closely, it's easy to see why: oversized paillette sequins, intricate jet beading, and radiating starburst motifs give the top remarkable texture and dimension. It's the kind of evening piece that does all the work for you—just add black trousers and go.
