A sky-blue Bottega Veneta silk-satin shirt dress from Fall 2019, Daniel Lee’s first ready-to-wear collection for the house. Cut in lustrous, fluid satin, the otherwise streamlined silhouette is punctuated by a dramatically gathered placket, pointed collar, and wide French cuffs. Joanna bought the dress at Bottega Veneta on Fifth Avenue and wore it just once, for the 2019 opening of her New York studio. “I think it’s so significant that I could not put it on again,” she says. “I wore it for the opening of Joanna Czech on Webster, when we first reopened in New York.”

Daniel Lee took the creative helm in 2018, introducing a sharper, more sensual vocabulary that quickly made the house one of fashion’s most influential labels.
