From the Closet of: Sarah Wetenhall

Label: Lanvin

Era: 2010s

About the Item:

For Sarah, this Lanvin necklace is a souvenir of her early years working in New York fashion. Oversized faux pearls are encased in delicate black mesh and strung on black ribbon; the generous length allows it to be worn as a single long strand or looped around the neck for a doubled effect. “This was such a big trend in the early 2000s, and at that point in my career, Lanvin was a very aspirational purchase,” Sarah says. She bought it at Barneys New York and remembers the purchase as a milestone. “It was a big deal for me, and I wore it as a wardrobe staple for multiple seasons.”

About the Label:

Founded in Paris in 1889 by Jeanne Lanvin, Lanvin is France’s oldest continuously operating couture house. Originally celebrated for the romantic dresses Lanvin designed for women and children, the house developed a vocabulary of intricate embellishment, rich color, and refined femininity. In the 2000s, under Alber Elbaz, Lanvin found a new generation of devotees with its romantic yet modern clothes and statement-making accessories.
