Closet Reveal
Joanna Czech knows a thing or two about longevity. The Polish-born esthetician has spent nearly four decades caring for some of the world’s most famous faces, with a client list that has included Anna Wintour, Jennifer Aniston, Kim Kardashian, Bella Hadid, and Hailey Bieber. After training extensively in aesthetics in her native Poland—where her education encompassed the entire body, not simply the face—Czech moved to New York at 25 and eventually became one of the beauty industry’s most trusted names. Today, she has studios in New York, Dallas, and Beverly Hills, as well as an eponymous skincare line launched in 2021.
Her eye is just as exacting when it comes to clothes. Czech describes her personal style as “The Row meets Magda Butrym”—a fitting shorthand for a wardrobe that balances restraint with something a little sexier and more unexpected. She returns again and again to the 1960s, inspired by photographs of her mother from the era, and still remembers one of her earliest vintage discoveries: a gray Prada nylon backpack found in an East Village vintage shop some 30 years ago. And while Czech may be practiced at letting go, there are limits. The hardest pieces to part with? “Anything by The Row and old Céline,” she says.
