Carola appears to have been a Danish dress label active in the late 1960s and early 1970s—the garment label itself reads “Made in Denmark.” This piece is distinguished by its textile, designed by American designer Ross Littell and Danish designer Inger Klingenberg for Unika Vaev. Littell was a prominent furniture and textile designer whose work for companies such as Knoll and Herman Miller helped define mid-century modern design, while the pair’s bold geometric prints reflect the vibrant, graphic textile tradition associated with Scandinavian design. The dress was also once part of Anna Sui’s personal vintage reference collection and later sold through Free People as part of Anna Sui’s Treasures Collection.

A true 1970s graphic maxi in bold vertical stripes with a mod circle-print border at the hem. She needs a new home!” Fully lined in silk, the dress is from the label Carola, and the fabric itself is stamped “Designed by Littell and Klingenberg for Unika Vaev.”
