Lily discovered it at one of her favorite neighborhood vintage stores, "a packed, kind of crazy shop" where, she says, "you can always find gems if you feel like really looking." She was immediately taken by the dress's rich color and playful versatility. "I loved the little contrast purple fray on the hem of that sash, which you can wear in so many different ways," she says. "I definitely tried it on as a turban when I put the dress on in the dressing room—some wishful thinking there for me." Though she held onto it for years, hoping for the right occasion, she ultimately decided it was time to pass it along. "I kept it for so long because I really wanted to wear it," she says. "But it was just a time where I decided to release her."
